BigRedWorks is a student-run maintenance company servicing the Georgian Bay area. We provide a wide array of services to cottagers in Honey Harbour, Cognashene, Minicog, and Go Home Bay. This is our 5th year in operation and we are growing rapidly to meet the needs of all cottages - no matter how big or small. The May 24th long weekend isn’t all about consuming a 2-4 of beer, but is in fact a celebration of Queen Victoria’s birthday. Victoria Day became a popular holiday in Ontario in 1845 and a national holiday in 1901. In the 1900s it was referred to as the Empire Day followed by Common Wealth Day, but is now known as Victoria Day or May long weekend. This weekend marks the beginning of the summer season with travel as a common theme. As the roads are packed we are all hoping the sun is shining at our home away from home – Honey Harbour and the surrounding areas.
Second Best Student Run Business in Canada
On May 6th Scott Metherell, owner of BigRedWorks Inc., presented his experience being a student entrepreneur at the 2009 ACE National Student Entrepreneurship Competition In Toronto. He presented, along with the five other student entrepreneurs selected from across the country, to a panel of judges at the Metro Toronto convention center. After watching all six presentations the Judges named Scott the 2009 National Student Entrepreneur Runner-up.
